Patch, Master Guider!
Hi folks! Patch here. Thought I'd share part of a day in my life as guider for Frank my master, he doesn't see too well you know. On Wednesdays we go to Henshaws at Old Trafford where he's learning to use a talking computer, thats if the computer cam get a word in edge ways!
Anyway, getting off the train at Victoria, and saying goodbye to a rather nice young lady who talked to me all the way from Castleton, I sallied forth into the big city. Approaching the end of platforms 1 and 2 I noticed some bright lights and a larger than usual crowd loitering in the very spot where I wait for my cousin Thomas and his master Peter. Thomas is a good looking boy for his age but not as hansom as yours truly, Oh vanity, vanity!
Executing one of my famous 180 degree turns I stopped just close enough to the group for him to earwig whats going on. No sooner had we stopped when this nice young man said "Can I help you?"
"No thanks. I'm waiting for someone" says himself. "Your not going to believe this"
"Try me" quipped dad.
"Your in the way"
"How can I be in the way I stand here every Wednesday" he retorted. Nice one I thought.
"We're filming a crowd scene for I T V"
TV! put on my best big brown eyes look towards camera.
"We do crowd. can you use us" Good lad Frank, thought I. "Not really" says a nice lady who said she was the director and ushered us to stand with a technician, out of shot whose job it is to stop people like us from getting in the way, Cheek of it! Well I thought wait till our Thomas gets here he'll sort you lot.
"Quiet! Rolling! Action" Shouted the director lady.Action? where? all I could see was people walking past.
"Cut! Cut!". she yelled. Now what? I thought. Hang on I know that wagging tail, I'll wag back. There in the middle of the actors was Thomas, with the director lady accosting Peter and bringing them towards us.
"Sorry about all this" say's director lady. Then never the one to miss a line himself says, "Isn't life funny, you wait for ages for a guide dog then two come at once!"
Take it from me its very difficult to walk with your front paws on your ears!
Bye for now. And a merry Christmas love Patch.
